Completed in mid 2009, the family friendly villa consists of a large open living and dining pavilion, called a ‘Joglo’, and looks out over the villa’s tropical gardens and water ponds, with views of Jimbaran Bay in the distance. Step out of one of the three separate King size bedrooms, directly into the wet edge pool, with an attached children’s pool that can be used as a spa. About us

Setia Villa, one of Bali’s most unique luxury properties, has two meanings, it translates into ‘authentic style accommodation’ while the word Jati is Indonesian for teak wood. The villas accommodations are centered around its traditional Indonesian ‘Joglo’, which dates back to 1860. It has been relocated from East Java and fully restored to its original grandeur. Hand carved from antique teak wood, the ‘Joglo’ was in disrepair when found by the Setia Villa owner.
The Javanese ‘Joglo’ is considered to be a sacred building, as it is originally based on Hindu temple forms. Because of the spiritual influences involved when dismantling and reassembling these structures, there are certain rituals that must take place. When this ‘Joglo’ was pulled down, offerings and prayers were made for good fortune to the spiritual forces. Workers also spent two nights in the dilapidated building, and reported the presence of a female spirit who they believed to be the caretaker of the ‘Joglo’ and would bring good fortune to those who inhabit it. Antique gold coins were also found under the base of the four posts of the ‘Joglo’, which gave evidence to the date of the structures original construction.
Once the ‘Joglo’ was transported to Bali, further offerings and ceremonies were made to the spiritual forces, and four new pieces of gold were placed under the footings of the four posts. In accordance with ancient Javanese folklore, all pieces of the original ‘Joglo’ have been used throughout the villa, and have been either used in the reconstruction of the ‘Joglo’, the villa’s bedrooms, or have been handcrafted into new furniture.
A highlight of the ‘Joglo’ is the intricately hand carved entrance doors. All furniture throughout the villa has been hand carved and specially selected to keep within the antique theme.
